SETTING THE SCENE
With its green paddocks, attractive 2 acre lake and 12 acres of woodland, White House Farm offers scenery that is second to none.
A former fruit farm, the property still has an orchard that yields generous amounts of apples, pears and plums every year.
White House Farm is very private and is approached through electric gates. To the right hand side of the gravel drive, gates give access to the stable yard with 12 stables and large storage barn. The driveway continues round to the parking area on the eastern side of the house with a 3 bay cart lodge (with internal access to the house) and parking for a number of cars.
The garden area lies principally to the south and west of the house, comprising a mixture of lawn with a variety of trees and shrubs. To the southwest of the house is the heated swimming pool with a paved surround, a timber clad building housing the pool filtration and heating plants and a timber clad part glazed pool house.
To the north are four post and rail paddocks with a railed and floodlit ménage (40m x 20m approximately) and with a natural pond to the northeast. Vehicular access is possible around the
perimeter of the grounds which include productive orchards including 19 varieties of apples, pears and plums.
There is also a 2 acre reservoir located in the south eastern corner of the grounds, ideal for the fishing enthusiast and well stocked with carp and trout. Adjacent to the reservoir is a large established woodland know as Likely Wood, carpeted with bluebells in the spring, in all about 66 acres.
PLACES OF INTEREST / DISTANCES TO KEY LOCATIONS
Wickham Bishops Village is 0.7 miles and is a very pleasant walk if you want to sample the two local village pubs. The Mitre and The Chequers, are situated in the village, both of which serve fine real ale and food is served throughout the day and evening.
The nearest mainline station is Witham which is 2.4 miles away and which has public parking adjacent to the station. The service is efficient and runs a full timetable throughout the day and late into the night with Stratford station being a 20 minute journey. Witham also provides an excellent range of shops. There is also a mainline station in the nearby village of Hatfield Peverel (2.9) miles but the service is less frequent. Public parking also available.
  
The historic quayside town of Maldon is 3.8 miles away and is still very much an unspoilt Essex village. Maldon still has many privately owned unique shops, tea rooms and 2 ancient churches. If you wish to sample British fish and chips then Maldon is the place to visit. There are a number of highly regarded golf courses within the area including Benton Hall Golf and Country Club which is no more than 5 minutes drive from White House Farm. For the sailing enthusiast there are marinas to be found in the aforementioned Maldon and River Blackwater area. Local stables are also to be found in the village of Wickham Bishops.
Stansted International Airport is only 25 miles away and is the most convenient airport for White House Farm however Gatwick and Heathrow are also convenient with Gatwick being the slightly nearer of the two and can be reached in about 1 hour.
